National Television Awards 2016 full winners list as Ant and Dec win for 15th year in a row
All the winners have been revealed for this year's NTAs
Ant and Dec were crowned TV Presenters of the Year at the National Television Awards on Wednesday night.
The Geordie duo have now taken home the gong for a staggering fifteen consecutive years, but Dec said the honour doesn't get any less as the time progresses.
He said: "Thank you so much, this is amazing. People said to us on the way tonight, 'Does it get boring winning awards?' No! It doesn't! If anything our gratitude has grown over the years because you never know when you're going to get it again."
And Ant added: "It's getting a bit mental now!"
Actress Suranne Jones had a blooming wonderful night at this year's National Television Awards - as she revealed she’s pregnant and then picked up two awards.
The star, 37, showed off a huge bump on the red carpet and confirmed she and husband Laurence Akers were expecting their first child.
And her night then got even better as she won the Best Drama Performance award for her lead role of Doctor Gemma Foster. And the BBC series Doctor Foster also picked up the New Drama prize, although her baby means fans will have to wait a while for the next series.
Overjoyed Suranne said: “Thank you for voting for us, we start filming the new series in September so we look forward to you seeing that, have a great night.”
Many of the female stars ignored the temperature of just three degrees in their evening dresses for the 21st NTAs at London’s O2 Arena, including stars from Coronation Street and EastEnders.
Downton Abbey went out on a high as it scooped the Best Drama prize at last night’s Nation TV Awards.
The hit ITV period drama ended at Christmas after six series. And the cast were rewarded for their efforts with another prize, possibly the last one it will pick up now the show has finished.
Hugh Bonneville, who played Robert Crawley, said: “This is a very special night for us it is the last possible night we could have won, I want to say thank you to Julian Fellowes for giving us great lines to say and wonderful characters.”
Laura Carmichael, who played Lady Edith Crawley, said: “It has been the most incredible six years and I will try not to get emotional. Thanks for coming with us on the journey.”
And Creator Julian Fellowes said: “You know I love happy endings and this is a very happy ending.’
Speaking afterwards he joked there was a “64-and-a-half percent” chance of their being a movie.
